Job Title: Warehouse Foreman

Department: Distribution

Reports To: Intercon Warehouse Supervisor


Responsible for leading distribution personnel in their specific activities to drive production, monitor quality, promote safety and increase efficiency.

Typical warehouse activities include the operation of material handling equipment activities in both the production and warehouse areas to accomplish order fulfillment.

Finished goods (cases, pails, drums, etc.) are moved from warehouse and production storage locations using manual or powered material handling equipment.

Order fulfillment occurs while assembling palletized loads of product for outbound shipment according to established procedures, directions, and pick lists.

Training, coaching and motivation of operators is necessary to improve the productivity of these distribution activities.

The completion of accurate and legible documentation is a critical component in the completion of all warehousing activities.

These duties are not in any specific order.

Trains warehouse operators in established work instructions and department procedures. Assists in the orientation of new employees.

Helps to maintain the cleanliness of warehouse areas and equipment used during the course of the work shift.

Monitors the status of areas and initiates cleaning directives, as needed.

Ensures that required maintenance (startup and watering activities) is performed on equipment as assigned.

Ensures that equipment is performing properly, and communicates any safety or mechanical deficiencies to appropriate management.

Follows all safety guidelines for the operation of powered material handling equipment. Leads by example and provide initial or remedial training to other operators, as needed.

Coordinates operators’ activities by helping to determine the priorities for work to be done base on own initiative and coordination with Warehouse Supervisor.

Drives the productivity of the operators to meet all established picking and material handling standards.

Reports the productivity metrics versus established standards.

Performs quality assurance checks on product being picked, palletized and staged. Understands mutually accountability, along with operators, for the correct product being picked, palletized and staged while completing the appropriate documents.

Assists in gathering paperwork for the completion of accurate record keeping of picked finished goods and materials.

Adheres to department quality benchmarks, standard operating procedures and work instructions for these documents.

Provides communication link between operators and supervisors to ensure that completed paperwork is forwarded for status updates and inclusion in necessary shipping load documents.


No activities requiring hiring and discharging of employees. However, significant input is required to the warehouse supervisor pertaining to new hires and performance reviews of existing employees.

Two-year certificate from college or technical school is preferred, but not required.

A minimum of two years of work experience with increasing responsibility in a manufacturing of warehousing operation is required.

Prior experience operating powered material handling equipment (pallet movers and fork trucks) is required.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, company policy manuals, and pick tickets.

Ability to write and complete inventory records and other departmental forms. Ability to speak effectively.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized solutions.

This position requires operation of material handling and production equipment in a manufacturing atmosphere.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, reach, bend and twist.

The employee regularly is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, including performing some work overhead.

The use of safety equipment including an attachment lanyard and vest for elevated work (up to 15 feet) is required.

The employee regularly lifts and/or moves cased finished goods and pails weighing as much as 60 pounds.

Product drums may weigh 500 pounds and require some strength and proper technique to tilt them and shift them onto pallets.

The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to noisy and instances of operating mechanical equipment may require hearing protection.

The temperature in the work environment can be extreme from 20 to 95 degrees, inside and outside.

The work areas may be wet.

The work areas may include uneven surface
